Cedar, ten years on
We used untreated cedar cladding on our second house. A decade later, we finally have an honest answer on how it aged.
Introduction
Untreated cedar was a bet in year two of the studio. We didn’t yet know how it would look at year ten.
The Result
It silvered unevenly on the south face, evenly everywhere shaded — a pattern we now design around rather than fight.
The Standard
Every cedar spec since accounts for sun exposure by elevation, not just by material choice.
